Ray Alimurung is a seasoned executive and investor with over 20 years of experience in the consumer internet and e-commerce sectors. He currently serves as General Partner at Kaya Founders, a venture capital firm dedicated to supporting early-stage, tech-enabled startups in the Philippines and Southeast Asia. At Kaya Founders, he oversees the “Zero to One Fund,” which focuses on pre-seed investments and guides startups from inception to market entry.

Prior to his role at Kaya Founders, Ray was CEO of Lazada Philippines (2018–2022), where he played a pivotal role in expanding the company’s operations and strengthening its position as a leader in Philippine e-commerce. His professional experience also includes significant roles at Amazon in the U.S. and as CEO of aCommerce Philippines, further establishing his expertise in digital platforms.

Under Ray’s leadership, Kaya Founders has invested in a diverse portfolio of startups, including fintech, AI-driven B2B platforms, and consumer tech. Notable investments include Etaily, Locad, Advance, Plastic Credit Exchange, and RuralNet.

Ray is widely recognized for his contributions to discussions on the Philippine digital economy, emphasizing the country’s readiness for a startup boom and the importance of early-stage investments in driving economic growth.

He holds a medical degree from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and an MBA from Stanford University.
