Ricky Palou is a distinguished sports executive and corporate leader whose visionary leadership has significantly shaped Philippine sports and business over the past decades. He is best known as the founder of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), the country’s leading professional volleyball league, which has become a cornerstone for developing local volleyball talent and raising the profile of the sport nationwide. Under his stewardship, the PVL has grown from a semi-professional tournament to a premier professional league, attracting top athletes, major sponsors, and a growing fanbase across the region.

Ricky graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Business Management and also earned an MBA from the same university. His career spans a unique blend of sports management, banking, and corporate leadership. He has held several high-ranking positions at Ateneo de Manila University, including President/Director of the Management Group and Director of University Athletics, playing a crucial role in developing sports programs and nurturing student-athletes.

Ricky was also a key figure in national sports governance as Finance Director of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), Asia’s first professional basketball league. His financial stewardship helped maintain stability and growth during pivotal periods in the league’s development.

Beyond sports, Ricky has had an exemplary corporate and banking career. He was First Vice President at Far East Bank & Trust Company, where he was instrumental in strategic financial operations. He also served as Brand Coordinator at San Miguel Corporation, one of the Philippines’ most prominent conglomerates, managing high-impact marketing and branding initiatives.
